Meet Dr. Amy Abel
Amy Abel, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1992. After graduation, she attained a fellowship from the College of Vision Development in Pediatrics and Vision Development. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas.
Dr. Amy is an active member of the College of Optometrist in Visual Development, the Optometric Extension Program, the Neuro-Ophthalmic Rehabilitation Association, the Colorado Optometric and American Optometric Associations, and the Colorado Optometric Glaucoma Society. Throughout the year, she attends extensive continuing education in the areas of vision therapy, child development, specialty contact lenses, as well as management and treatment of glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Vision therapy and neurological rehabilitation are her true areas of passion.
She specializes in working with children and adults with strabismus, amblyopia, and vision-related learning problems. She prides herself on finding the solution to even the most difficult-to-manage vision problems. From infants to seniors, Dr. Amy loves to make a difference in her patients’ vision and lives. Dr. Amy is fellowship-trained in vision therapy and neuro rehabilitation. She helps those with crossed eyes, lazy eyes, and traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Amy greatly enjoys children and helping them become successful and confident in school and sports. She enjoys getting to truly know them and their families on a personal, one-to-one level, and managing the eye care of the family through all the generations.
Dr. Amy practices with her husband, Dr. Greg Abel. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband, traveling, skiing, walking, and visiting family in Southern California and Nebraska.
